What are the exhibit floor hours for the Show?

Do I have to be a Member of ASTD to attend the 2010 show?
No, you can attend the Show and not be a member of ASTD; however, ASTD members are eligible for discounted registration fees. In addition, if you have five or more employees from your organization interested in attending the ASTD International Conference & Exposition, you may qualify for registration fee discounts. Are children allowed to attend?
Yes, however children under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times when in the exhibit areas. Registration for children is complimentary and must be done on-site. All children except infants in backpacks or slings must be registered and receive a badge to be admitted to the exhibit areas.
Is photography allowed on the Exhibit floor?
Still photography and videotaping are not permitted in the Exposition or sessions during the conference. Exceptions are made only when permission is obtained from the exhibitor whose booth/product is being photographed, videotaped and all individuals appearing in the photograph or video.
The ASTD Official Photographer may be employed for individual booth photography.

It is recommended that all property be shipped through the official ASTD shipping contractor by each Exhibitor. McCormick Place does not accept direct shipments, so all materials must be sent through Champion Exposition Services.
How is ASTD promoting an environmentally friendly conference?
To ensure an environmentally friendly event, ASTD works closely with its convention center and general contractor partner. In an effort to minimize the use of materials and natural resources that adversely impact the environment ASTD and the McCormick Place Convention Center have implemented the following practices:
- Badge holder recycling bins are locations throughout the convention center. Please deposit your badge holder in a bin at the end of the conference.
- ASTD 2010 signage is printed on 84% recycled paper.
- ASTD is reducing handout materials to a two-page job aid for most sessions. Speakers’ PowerPoint slides combined with their job aid will be posted on the website.
- Attendees who provide their own cup at any concessions outlet in the Convention Center (excluding Starbucks) will receive 25 cents off of their purchased beverage, hot or cold.

What types of payment are accepted for the registration fee?
You can pay for your registration fee using any of the following:
By Credit Card:
ASTD accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. EXCEPTIONS: Credit card orders with addresses shipping to Nigeria, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Libya, and Sudan will not be accepted. Orders from these countries must be prepaid by wire transfer and must include expedited shipping fees.
By Check:
ASTD accepts personal or company checks sent via mail.
By Purchase Orders (POs):
$100 is the minimum for a purchase order. However, PO transactions cannot be processed online or by phone. To use a PO, mail to the address below or fax it to ASTD at (703) 299-8723. POs must be on your company's letterhead and must be signed. First time customers must prepay.
By Wire Transfer:
Please contact ASTD Member Services for information at (703) 683.8100 or (800) 628.2783. Transaction must include your name and indicate specifically what product(s) you are ordering. Please provide a copy of the bank's transaction receipt when submitting this form.

What is the registration cancellation policy for the Show?
Badge and credentials will be mailed to attendees who have registered before April 2, 2010. There will be no refunds issued after April 2, 2010. All cancellations prior to April 2, 2010 are required in writing and a $50 cancellation fee will apply. Online and pre-registration ends at 12:00 p.m. EST on May 7, 2010. After this time, attendees will need to register onsite.
Celebration tickets pre-sales end on May 7, 2010. After this time, celebration tickets will be available at the celebration counters while supplies last for $100. All credits must be used within a year of issue.
Are there registration options available for one day or two days of 2010 ASTD ICE?

When can I expect to receive my credential (registration badge) in the mail?
Credentials will be mailed to all people from the United States and Canada who pre-register by [INSERT DATE]. Mailing of credentials will begin in [INSERT MONTH]. Individuals who register after [INSERT DATE], and registrants from countries other than the US and Canada may pick-up their credentials in the McCormick Place Convention Center at the registration desk.
I have my 2010 Show badge and plastic badge holder do I need anything else to enter the exhibit halls when they open?
No, you have what you need. Bring your badge and badge holder with you to get into the Expo hall.

What are the benefits of booking hotel rooms at the ASTD designated hotel?

To reserve a hotel room am I required to provide a credit card?
Yes, a credit card is required in order to secure the reservation. A deposit equal to the first night's room and tax (12%) will be charged to that card by the hotel when the reservation is sent to the hotel in mid December.
Will I receive confirmation of my hotel reservation?
Yes, if you book your room through us the confirmation of your hotel reservation will be included in your Registration and Housing confirmation.

Where can I park at the McCormick Place Convention Center and how much does it cost?

Can I park my car overnight at the McCormick Place Convention Center?
No, overnight parking at the Convention Center is prohibited. Vehicles left overnight will be towed at the owner's risk and expense.
What accessibility services are available for persons with disabilities?
- The McCormick Place Convention Centers has the following accessibility services.
- Service Animals Policy - Trained service animals are welcome at McCormick Place.
- Assisted Hearing - McCormick Place has TTY access available at the Security Command Center located in the North Building on Level 1. For more information, call our TTY number at 312-791-6505.
- Assisted listening transmitters and receivers are available free of charge for meeting rooms and the Arie Crown Theater.
- ATM Machines - ATMs offer audio assistance for the visually impaired and meet height and reach requirements for the physically impaired. Cash machines are available in each building - South Level 2.5 in the Convenience Center; North Level 2, near McDonalds; West, Level 1 near the Transportation Center; and Lakeside Level 2, near the Arie Crown Theater box office. All cash machines accept American Express, VISA, Master Card, Cirrus and Plus.
- Elevators - Elevators are located near the main entrances in all McCormick Place buildings, and near the main exhibit halls on all levels.
- Entrances and Exits - McCormick Place has 4 designated drop-off points for taxis and cars that provide ramped curbs and automatic entry doors:
- Lakeside Center (East Building) - Drop off at Gate 37 (car drop off at Gate 31); pick up at Gate 30
- North Building - Drop off or pick up at Gate 22
- South Building - Drop off or pick up at Gate 4
- West Building - Drop off or pick up at Gate 41
- Meeting Rooms and Theaters - All meeting rooms and theaters are wheelchair accessible, except rooms E268 and E269 (which are only available for limited use).
- Parking Lots - Accessible parking is available in Lot A (located on Martin Luther King Drive), Lot C (located underground in Lakeside Center) and the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place parking garage.
- Seating - The Arie Crown Theater provides wheelchair seating throughout the theater; wheelchair companion seating can be arranged with advance notice.
- Service Areas - First aid stations, restaurants, retail outlets and drinking fountains are wheelchair accessible. Restrooms provide either accessible or ambulatory stalls.
- Signage - All McCormick Place public signs incorporate raised lettering and Braille.
- Wheelchairs, Mobility Services and Oxygen Equipment - For wheelchairs, mobility scooters, power chairs and oxygen equipment rentals, contact our preferred service partner, Scootaround Mobility Solutions at (888) 441-7575 or visit www.scootaround.com/rentals/m/mccormickplace.
Preconference Courses
If I register for 2010 ASTD ICE am I automatically registered for preconference courses?
No, a separate fee and registration is required for each preconference course.
Do I have to be registered for the entire conference in order to attend the Preconference Courses?
No, you may register for Preconference Education Courses without registering for the Show itself.
Can I register for Preconference Courses on-site?
Advanced registration is required. Seating is limited and Preconference Education courses do sell out!
When will I receive a confirmation once I register?
You should receive a confirmation within 2 business days. You also will receive a final confirmation with room locations and times for each course, by mail within 2 weeks prior to the event.
Can I purchase the Preconference Course materials without registering for and attending the courses?

What educational opportunities are available at the ASTD 2010 ICE?
There are two types of educational opportunities available at ICE:
- Preconference Courses
- Education Seminars
What is the difference between Preconference Courses and Educational Seminars?

Do I have to be registered for ICE in order to attend the Educational Seminars?
Yes, you must be a registered attendee in order to attend any of the educational seminars offered during the four days of ICE. You may either purchase a "Full Registration" and have access to an unlimited number of education seminars or you may purchase a "1- Day or 2-day Education with Exhibits Registration" option and have unlimited access to education seminars on one or two days of your choice during the conference and exposition.
Do I have to be registered for the Show in order to attend the Preconference Courses?
No, you may register for Preconference Education Courses without registering for ICE itself.
Where can I get information on the Preconference Education courses offered at ASTD ICE 2010?

How can I become a speaker at ASTD ICE 2010?
The proposal deadline was August 26, 2009. No additional proposals will be accepted.

Press FAQs
Conference Press Registration
Writers and editors are invited to apply for press credentials to the ASTD 2010 International Conference & Exposition, May 16 – 19, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
The process to request press credentials includes a few brief steps:
Step 1: Send the ASTD Public Relations department 2-3 copies of recent articles that you have written. You may send them by e-mail, forward links to online articles, or send them by mail. The mailing address is included below.
Step 2: Provide an assignment letter from the editor or publisher you are working with explaining that you are attending the ASTD International Conference & Exposition in an editorial capacity on behalf of the publication.
Step 3: After the above items have been sent, the last step is to register online for a press pass at the link provided below. The form is brief and will take less than five minutes to complete.
