Higher education faculty, staff, and department heads are invited to participate in special events, network, and share information about their courses and programs.

Join members of the higher education community for coffee, conversation, and a session covering topics unique to the needs of ASTD members who are college and university professors and department heads, including mapping course curriculum to the new ASTD Competency Model. Share best practices and learn from your peers during the Faculty Forum. Continue the information sharing during lunch. Pre-registration is encouraged and seating is limited.

Higher Education Lunch, With Speaker Dr. Michael Allen , Room D172
Author Dr. Michael Allen will join faculty and higher education leaders for lunch and candid conversation around the content in his latest book Leaving ADDIE for SAM: An Agile Model for Developing the Best Learning Experiences. Leaving ADDIE for SAM introduces two new concepts -- SAM, the Successive Approximation Model, and the Savvy Start. Together, they incorporate contemporary design and development processes that simplify instructional design and development, yielding more energetic and effective learning experiences. Seating is limited and preregistration is encouraged.

Pick up your student name tag ribbon and materials while networking with fellow Student Day attendees at the morning networking coffee. Take advantage of reserved seating in the front of the general session room, and join us for lunch as Dan Schawbel, author of Promote Yourself: The New Rules for Career Success and Me 2.0: 4 Steps to Building Your Future shares his insights and expertise on personal branding. Finish off the day by learning about ASTD's Power Membership and how you can plug into your local ASTD chapter community. Preregistration for the lunch is encouraged and seating is limited.
