How to Gain Approval to Attend
In today's economy, you have to justify every dollar you spend, including the money and time to attend the ASTD 2013 International Conference & Exposition. You also need to stay competitive in today's market. By investing in attendance at ASTD 2013, you will benefit your organization by advancing and fine-tuning your skills, finding new ways to increase efficiencies, and gaining practical knowledge you can put to work the day you return.
Follow these guidelines to gain support and approval from your supervisor to travel to and attend ASTD 2013:
Step 1: Review the conference program
Determine which sessions you want to attend. Select ones that are most beneficial to you, your team, and your company. Each of the 300+ sessions offer learning outcomes and are easily identified by tracks. You can find solutions to your biggest challenges and identify new opportunities for growth.
Step 2: Review the exhibitor list
The exposition hall will host more than 350 exhibitors - the largest EXPO in the industry. You will be immersed in thousands of innovative ideas, tools, and applications. You will find a variety of advanced solutions and techniques that complement the new information you will pick up in your sessions. Exhibitor demonstrations of new tools and methodologies will give you all the background you need to decide which tools will work for you. Exhibitors will share case studies and experiences. Consider the business opportunities that could develop from establishing connections with industry professionals and partners. Plan to visit exhibitors that you know have products or services that would benefit your organization.
Step 3: Save money
Book your hotel room through ASTD's Official Housing. We have done all the work for you. You will get a discount rate at any of the ASTD-recommended hotels, most of which are on the free shuttle bus route, so forget having to pay for taxis! Take advantage of receptions and exhibit hall lunches to help trim meal costs. Consider finding a roommate to share accommodations.
Step 4: Complete documentation
Complete the ASTD 2013 Justification Document (under the important documents section) and submit to your supervisor. This letter will help you demonstrate why you should attend the ASTD 2013 International Conference & Exposition in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A.
Step 5: Share it!
Commit to a post-conference briefing for senior management and your team, where you will highlight what you have learned from the conference. Tie what you have learned to your organization's challenges, goals, and strategic plans.
We look forward to seeing you in Dallas.
